I dont know much at all about whats a rare maker and all that (yet)but I will get research material soon, but from what little ive learned,(not knocking)your dagger by no means, but isnt it funny how the grip handle doesnt fit the guards??I mean the radius on the wood is way high from the guard, even alowing for shrinkage they dont fit right to me,could the handle have been replaced at one time???just bigginers observation,So go easy on me ya'll,Regards.

I do know about SS daggers, and the one that you show, Paul, is one rare Kitty Cat. I have known of only one other maker marked Puma in 25 years of collecting. The way that this dagger is untouched, everything on it is just the way that this piece has been for the last 60 years, but I'm sure that I didn't need to tell you that. Although the condition is what it is, the rarity of the trademark overshadows all else. Nice find Paul. JR

I think the Puma maker mark is great and looks even better on this SS dagger.

JR, I see your knack for picture taking has only improved, if that's possible. Great totenkopf!

I know this is a very rare maker, but how come a big firm like Puma
made these in such small numbers?
              Regards

Not untouched any more ,why have you taken it apart to see the tang marking?

What a rare dagger and great find- The chained SS Puma was originally sold by Mr. Charlie Snyder

Interesting thing: most of late (1052) Puma SS daggers have chips to the handle, I don't remember seeing one without chips. Here the early Puma has significant chipping to the handle as well. Coincidence? Anyway, congrats, I'd love to own such rare bird even if condition wasn't best.
