    SS dagger - OK?

I've been offered a SS dagger, that belonged to a finnish SS-volunteer.
Documented history, sold by the son. Owner was SS-rottenführer (4.FFB/2.K),

Buy the item, not the story.
I mainly collect feldpost and photos, so this is way out of my knowledge.
I got none. So any help would be very appreciated, I need to know
what you dagger collectors think about this one. Bad or good?

I have a hard time reading the maker mark, but after googling on maker marks it seems like it could be: 15/38 SS J.A. Henckels Solingen ?

If real or fake, one thing is for sure - it's quite beat up.
Not in it's best health, so the value is little lower and if the history is correct that's all I care about/buying for.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate all help.

I've got sellers promition to show photos.

I see a very salty transitional dagger here with major condition issues(chunk of wood missing) but IMO its a real one. In this shape I would say 1000.00 US would be the top of the mark.

My concern with the dagger is the fit of the eagle in the handle, but typical low quality RZM dagger.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinion about the dagger. So far so good.

I got another photo (I made a enhanced version in paint shop pro to get the numbering more visible) on the maker mark - it sure is 15/38.

        More opinions are very appreciated!

The Trademark is correct for an 15/38 !
A honest dagger in worse condition.

Thank you all for taking time and giving your opinion.
Im getting the feeling the dagger is genuine.

The condition is horrible, I know. But with it's history it dosn't matter,
in this case it is the history attached to the item that makes it pricey/worth the money. Only reason I buy it - If I do. (It will cost way more then 1000$ tou.)

Just wondering,do you have any documents/proof as to the claim of the owner...I would hope for some SOLIDproof to go with the dagger.....best of luck.....Lenny
