    SA Dagger Opinions

    Hi all,

I have the opportunity to buy this SA Ehrendolch. Could I get some opinions please?

Firstly do you think the piece is original?

Any opinion on the construction, maker, approx year it is from?

What would such an item be approx worth?

How about the condition? And the sheath lacquer?

    Many thanks

The pics are not the best, but I can´t see major red flags.

It´s a regular SA service dagger (not an honor dagger).

It´s the third, late modell (RZM dagger) made between 1939 - 1942.

Is there a M7/70 on the blade? If so, it´s the maker David Malsch from Steinbach.

Prices are very subjective. One is willing to pay more and the other less. It also depends on how many collectors are interested in this item.

I personally would see a triple hanger at around $150 and max. $400 for the dagger, thus max. $550 total.

The scabbard looks painted, which is correct for third models. Pics are not the best, but the scabbard could be ok.

Another Steinbach RZM with a poor etch and high eagle. You're going to get several vastly different opinions on these. See here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=554958

Three piece hanger looks like an earlier one that was probably added later.

Thanks LH - same shop, different stock. The price was not cheaper than better examples I had seen elsewhere but I posted anyway just for advice. It is a good way to learn.

Thanks ivbaust - the price is higher than what you say, so for this reason I am out. Wait a minute, this isn't Dragon's Den
