It would be much more interesting if the complete knifes and their scabbards were shown here, instead of just a zoom on the inlaids and the makersmarks...

"Never judge an individual part, always look at the complete item!" should be an excellent advise when it comes to collecting 3R items.

    Best regards,

    Victorman

Victorman, we are mainly concerned about the Solid Red Daimonds at the moment that is why we are zooming into "inlaids", Darrell, Raymond & a few others have shown some good positive input here concerning solid Reds have they not?, dont be soooo negative man!!

        Mac 66,

It is not a question of being negative, I just want to preserve the good reputation that site today benefits from!

When I see the evolution of treats like this one, I really start to worry...

Unexperienced collectors come here to learn about the hobby and they might start to believe that "put together items" (I do not want to offend anyone here, but I find no other description for most what is shown here) are also collectable militaria... and they are not, sorry!

This is my last reply to the treat, because I am not interested in any emotional discussions, never was and never will.

Just a small illustration why it is important to look at a item as a whole is given by the picture (from this treat!) herunder: it clearly showes a "messed with" rivet...

        Best regards,

        Herman

Herman, no emotional discussions here just trying to learn more about the Solid Red Daimonds, yes there is many hjs that are put together as parts knifes & there are some that are not with the Solid Red daimonds like the one Raymond has shown, i respect your concerns being a long time hj knife collector yourself, yes the griplate looks to be messed with in the pic but this could have occured in the factory as its a late war knife with poorer quality workmanship, the daimond looks a good type of the solid Red we are discussing at the moment.

Here is a pic of the plain side showing rivet ends.

Mike maybe this thread will help with a few solid reds shown out of the griplate, i,m a believer, Any members got a hj knife with a Solid Red Daimond please show it here so we can learn & prove that these are period hj Insignias.

                  Hi Guys!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
I have this from when I was writing a book on HJs. I am confident many of the high quality solid enameled diamonds are original. Many of the old time collectors with experience have no hesitation either. My pics are horrible but you can get the idea.<o></o>
                  Best Wishes,<o></o>

Bob, thanks for posting these pix of your solid red hj daimond insignia, much appreciated, heres a link to D.D.Harris on you-tube speaking about the solid reds, he told me by email today solid reds are a genuine variant daimond insignia on later hj knifes & he has had many pass thru his hands over many years.

                                Another solid red HJ.

Here's one.... I'm thinking of buying it. Can anyone tell if it's authentic or fake ? The diamond is not loose. The scabbard is magnetic and without lip, but what about the color ?. Rivets look OK.
                                Tried to post pictures..... could'nt.
The pictures can be seen here: http://warrelics.eu/forum/daggers-sw...er-fake-35469/
                                Best regards
