hunting cutlass

Designer, take a look at my hunting blade which I just posted the other day.

Except for the leather scabbard and silver fittings, everything else is right on with part of the etching of the dog chasing the deer missing on yours. Is your blade about 13''?
Note some of the commentary on mine where the slotted pommel retainer wasn't seen before. I'm not saying that mine was put together before the war ended, but as was suggested that mine is likely original Eickhorn parts put together post war by Hubertus. Or perhaps your's is also post war?
I am not sure when the shaded Eickhorn logo was used; I seem to remember most likely in the '30s. Perhaps with mine, Hubertus buffed off the Eickhorn logo, replated and apparently used a really strong steel body instead of leather for the sheath.
Are you able to take your blade apart and see what markings are on some of the parts as exhibited on mine?

I haven't tried to take it apart. I wouldn't want to mess anything up. I'm pretty confident my dagger is war-time era though. The items were aquired very early after the war (I'll have to ask him for more info the next time we talk). Thanks!

Your hirschfänger is another post war piece, the Eickhorn firm used only a stamped mark on there hunting/forestry or shooting association blades, it looks as though yours was made late 1940's or early 1950's, the grip emblem was definately added after the war, this piece would have had the post war DJV grip emblem.

DJ Deutsche Jägerschaft (Pre War 1934-45)

Post War Hunter

Definately post war, from about 1948 to 1955 period. Thinner blade, different quality stag, added grip emblem.
