Comments requested on Govt Dagger.

Hi folks,

Just got this in for inspection.. Pls make comments good or bad.

What I do like about it "IN HAND" is the patina and the minty condition of the blade.

First one I have possibly owned so it if bad I need to know ASAP.

My "gut" is that its good... what do I know.

Its too bad the flash makes it looks all shiny.. It is actually pretty dark

I need to get or make a tool to make sure the numbers match.. Supposedly they do.

Some parts of this dagger look good, but others give me a bad feeling. There seem to be a lot of casting flaws in the guard. As well the overall look is just not right, but it could be the lighting, or just me.Here are some photgraphs of mine for comparison.

Although G.O.'s have been seen with some rough but period crossguards...
I'm in agreement with Wolfe on this one. I can't see how that crossguard would have made it past final assembly inspection.

I believe it maybe a "parts dagger". I would wait and not go for this one.

Now that you pointed it out.. I see it on the right side of the eagles wing.. the pits in the casting... DUH!!!!

Man I wish I had the right tool to take it apart. Since its going back Im not going to bother.

If we are calling this a probable "PARTS dagger" what would it go for? 1000-1500??
