    Just a quick note re Marine SA--after much research, the only official dagger was a standard SA. I agree with Jeff that there are definitely original gilt fitted examples and black handled examples that appear to have been custom finished for a presentation or some other reason. A dagger with a different appearance would not have been permitted to be worn by lower and middle ranks, but it's possible that at a school or by a higher leader it might be.
