    Karin,
I do not have to answer this as others have already answered.

      a little bit short

Maybe it was just me, but somehow, a few days ago, as I was watching all you guys' marvellous daggers, I suddenly noticed that I had been focusing on the wrong detail. The grip of my dagger is fine. Well, very used, abused even maybe, sporting a crack, but still, overall OK.

One of you guys said, that the blade is all that really matters when it comes to daggers. And mine is rather heavily used, to say the least. And than, this week, it hit me: I saw that "my" motto seemed WAY OFF compared to other daggers My motto was edged further to the top. However, that was not it. It is my top that got closer to the motto! My blade is shorter than it once was, 20,3 centimeters, while it should be about 21,6 centimeters. Probably, someone over-sharpened it, or reshaped the tip after it was broken off. Whatever the reason, my blade was savaged somewhere in time!

Now, I know all of you are strrrongly against ANY modification whatsoever. However, as I'm stubborn plus very novice and green in this area, I made my first e-stand purchase! Yeay! I purchased this item from Bob yesterday:
      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=360282

I couldn't let this opportunity pas me by. My first utterly BIG investment, it was bigger then me, I had no chance, resistance was futile

A lonesome Wüsthof blade, looking for loving home! I can't be wrong in providing it with that, Am I? My shortened blade is of the same configuration, albeit that Bob's blade has the original length, and seems to be in better shape overall. It being of the same maker and the same era (it also has the ground Röhm motto), I'm sure I won't have much trouble in fitting it into the grip, I guess

Anyway, just wanted to share this, I'll let you know how it all turns out.

      Very best regards,
      Karin-Renate

        Just say no!

I think you are missing the point of most of the previous posts. Leave the original dagger alone. What it is... is what it is. I really think you are making a mistake.

        Just my opinion. Respectfully, Brad

Hi Karin, what you have got to realize is, after you have put much money into this dagger, it will allways just be a non original parts dagger. With all the money you will have spent with replacment parts, blade, grip ect, you would have had enough for a nice original unplayed with example. They will never fit as they would on a original piece either. You have to learn to move on. Sell it for what you can get for it, and invest your hard earned money into something nice. In the end you will never be happy with this piece. Its one of the first lessons you will learn in collecting. Move onto something better please. You will be much happier i promise, regards Johnno.

              Right?

You guys might be right. I agree 100% with what you all thought about replacing the grip. However, regarding the blade, I have good hopes. What the pictures probably do not show is the poor crossguard to Blade fitting. I didn't notice this earlier, but when you hold the dagger up to light, you can see between crossguard and blade. I'll try to grab this on a picture.

This might be caused by breaking off the tip of the blade. Heck, even the crack in the grip might be caused by breaking off the tip for all I know. Still, this being an early SA, I think the poor fitting of the blade to the crossguard has nothing to do with a bent blade. I think it has to do with the fact that the blade is not original to the grip/crossguards/nut. I might be wrong, but I think I'm not wrong in thinking/hoping that the better blade will look at least as good as the badly fitted, shortened, greyed and dull blade that is had now.

Still, whatever the outcome, which I'll show here, I won't let the blade the dagger has now leave the dagger. I have a very cool display case, there is room for an extra blade to show (off) in there, and it will look great

But given all the facts, I couldn't resist that lonely blade that has been there for a while now. Besides, Bob sold it to me, if it turns out to be a rrrrealy bad fitting blade, I can always sell it as well. At least it is an original blade That can not be said with 100% certainty about the grip I traded for. And, yes, I know I'm impulsive And stupid at times

Thanks for your opinions guys, they are appreciated!

                Same rohm Wuesthoff

Is there anyway I could get a measurement of the maker Mark to the very beginning of the blade where the Tang meets the blade. I have a Wuesthoff and trying to authenticate it

I don’t know the exact measurement, but maybe the photos in post #12/14/15 of this thread help:
