I found online some English laws related to dummy machine guns, knives etc..
You cant even own a gravity knife if you live in England as I read it. It is considered a "flick knife".
It appears it is a old law dating back pre 1970s.
I dont know about the laws here in the US as the laws vary state to state. I do know gravity knives sell everywhere here on the reenactor sites so I suppose they are legal to own. Most sites dont say anything about restrictions to certain states.
It sounds like even if you found a knife for sale anywhere you cant even own it legally anymore.
It appears that it is true why risk it? It isnt worth the trouble.
Somebody could turn you in and get you into a mess of trouble
