I believe this shows fairly strong evidence of some solid red diamonds being period produced and used in late manufacture knives.

Great examples Mike!

The diamonds in the two examples shown by Mike bear the same characteristics as mine - the red field is slightly 'speckled' when looked at closely. They differ quite dramatically to the known fake solid red diamonds.

They look good from the pics. Maybe a hand inspection and x-rays would totally certify it.
