    KRUPP Daggers

    Gentlemen,

I have just picked up on this thread, and the latest submissions (February, 2019).

Yes, it is true, that I once did give these Krupp Daggers the benefit of the doubt - this being at the MAX Show way back in about 2007/8. My reason for doing so was because I could not find a specific fault to condemn any belief in the authenticity.

However that opinion changed within the following year or so, when I started encountering some of these Krupp pieces with Luftwaffe, and SS markings; and it was thus obvious that the markings were fake, and therefore by association the actual daggers were faked.

If the producers of these pieces had not gone over the top with their markings, we would have been left still wondering whether or not these were some products from within the Krupp factory or one of their affiliates. However, the fakers got too clever - and gave their game away !

I have an archived photo dated January 1, 2002 which was just after I joined my first online forum. New to me, the pictures were not the greatest and I filed it away for a future look if some other information ever came forward. It did, but it was years later and for me it clearly established itself as a 4th Reich fantasy dagger. FP

        Gentlemen,

Whereas I think most of us are in agreement about the dubious nature of these daggers, I personally am keen to see any other examples which have found their way into collections. This is mainly to try and document the number of variations which may have come into existence - as I am seeking to archive all possible information about them.

So if you have anything, please post it here or let me know about it.

Just to start the ball rolling I will endeavour to attach an image of the example that I have.

Oops ! Having trouble with my image - might be too big. Will try and send in a moment.

Sorry, failed again. I will send it to Serge to see if he can manage it for me.

They all strike me as someones metal shop project. Simple designs, usually in brass and much able to be formed on a lathe. The "maker" mark on this one #35, look amateurish, in fact "KRUPP" looks like individually struck letters.
