I agree with Tony buffed- replated what ever the case but not a reproduction IMO

What I see from the pictures is a late Klaas Army with a plaster filled grip that has been POLISHED and BUFFED to DEATH! The hilt parts may have been subsiquently chromed or nickled as sometimes is seen with Lugers and P-38's.

      What a shame.

Klaas frequently used nickel plated blades of course these don’t have cross graining -Although this blade could be replated as the maker mark looks funny. If it is an original Klaas nickel plated blade the tang will have a hole drilled in it.

What's the age of this repro?

Also, notice the lack of cross-graining on the blade.

DZR brings up a good point concerning the crossguard as Tony said the grip is a later probably plaster filled grip. This crossguard is not out of the question for a later made Klaas that being said I would never own this dagger #1 the condition #2 I as you prefer the early Klaas crossguard with the hand work –please tell us if the scabbard bands have the asterisks?

                Tom and DZR,

Do the above scabbard photos shed any additional light on this piece?

                Appreciate your help.

                  Tom and DZR,

Here is how it appears today clipped on a plaque.

It was supposedly presented to the veteran at a reunioun meeting.

The veteran has recently passed away and the plaque is being offered by his widow.

Well, it looks like it have the typical asteriks on the scabbard bands (sometimes it could also be a small acorn on the seam). The scabbard has age patina and the dagger shines like the sun? Maybe heavy polished nikkel? it's a typical piece that could be easely controlled an valued by hand. Made a conclusion only by pictures is sometimes hard.

                    Regards, Theo

Ron my prior opinion stands I see no red flags on the scabbard the dagger has just been buffed or polished but real IMO. I wouldn’t pay more than 250 in this condition if that. The one bands does exhibit the asterisk mark you see often on the Klass daggers
