I just got this today and even though some unmitigated moron lightly sharpened it, I still think it is stunning. I placed a Lincoln penny next to it. Overall length is ten inches, and the blade is 6.5 inches long. oh yes, the scabbard and grip are blue leather, and the grip is double strand wire. Any idea what it might be worth? Thanks a million, Charlie

I think it was sharpened recently because there is no patina on the sharpened part, and the sharpening marks are horizontal, like the modern steel rods leave. I think the writing on the blade is the mfg., but I do not know much about these. I may put it on e-stand, but I don't know what it is worth. I certainly don't want to over charge for it. Charlie

I got this out today and began using the 0000 wool to try to get the file marks off. The wool must not be harder than the blade, as the work is proceeding very slowly. I can't really see any difference, but the blade is definatly smoother, so I must be getting somewhere. Any ideas, anybody? Does anyone know if Breakfree is a rubbing compound of somesort, or an oil? This blade was plated, just like the large size original, so it will never look exactly right unless it is plated again. I would suggest you contact Don Swanson of Columbia, MO. or see him at the MAX Show for his imput. He can restore blades better than any body I have met in the hobby.
