The insignia almost looks as it sits on a disk. Someone polished the insignia and left lots of polisher...

Nice sailing ship etch. I'm noticing that there seems to be a grip variant present on earlier daggers with this maker's mark.
Occasionally we see Alcoso grips that have 9 ribs instead of 6. Also observed with these earlier daggers is a variant emblem, the Polizei bayonet style usually observed on Eickhorn daggers. Clearly there is no textbook on these daggers but rather some types that are more acceptable than others.

Also liking his books where he provided some of the original source material that for an average/ordinary collector trying to find it was going to be difficult. Also being of the opinion that a lack of effort in proofing might have been what happened. But as it did for you, the "alarm bells" I think should have been ringing. Fred

Joe,
Thank you for chiming in on this topic. Is there any regulation you're aware of that authorized the use of the scarcely seen gold/navy hangers and knots that have been attributed by some to the Wasserschutzpolizei?
My understanding is that this supposed connection started with Mollo's book in or around 1967, before Tom Johnson mentioned it in his Volume I.

Hello Gentlemen,
as far as I know the parts of the WSP daggers were the same as the parts of the KM daggers. The exception, of course, were the handle and pommel. All of the WSP daggers I've seen have been by Alcoso and Eickhorn. I mean the daggers from 100% safe sources like an owner’s family etc. Here are a few pictures of the WSP daggers as they were worn.
Best,
Oleg.
