I have successfully connected my field telephone system to my land line, it works beautifully the quality is really good and it connects seamlessly to Europe as well as UK. Areal testament to German engineering.

Most PSTN networks in europe still accepts pulse dialling for backward compability.
I've used old phone from '20-s with our PSTN, everything works fine, but since
that old phone uses sweden dialling system (one pulse for 0, two pulse for 1
etc), i just have to use conversion.

BTW, what dialling system german phones used?

I have an 80's push button phone which has the standard push-fit plug on one end and crimp lugs in the phone, I removed the lead and plugged it into land line socket and connected the red line to the La terminal and then selected the white line to connect to the Lb terminal and hey presto a dialling tone, I dialled my iPhone and it rang! It doesn't need any additional kit the pulse dialling works fine as does the end pulse generator. I sat there and rang everyone I could think of, the stunning thing is that no one could tell that I was using 70 year old equipment until I told them!! The quality is superb.

Are you using the FF33 or the desk phone to talk? If using the FF33, what is the battery used for it?

You need the battery to power the microphone in the FF33. It should only be connected via an "Amtsanschliesser" or "Amtszusatz" to deal with the centrally powered (ZB) public system, that is why you have the "ZB" connections on these. If connected directly a constant voltage will be applied to the lines of your field telephone. This will cause a leak current through the transformer and bell coils which could cause damage in the long term.

FF33 used on a analog telephone line

Very interesting.

I use my FF33 on my analog phone line.
FF33 a connected phone line via SB-Zusatz 33
For this to work properly, the switch inside the SB-33 Zusatz be turned.
I can now take incoming calls when I lift the handset fp FF33.






Switch contacts A and B are switched. A plastic insulator C must be implemented.
When you now lift the handset you will get a dial tone.
One can however only receive incoming calls with FF-33.

I have a Waa marked landline phone which has no way to dial a number, only a button to push for direct contact( I guess). It had already been made to plug into US phone jack and works great. It sounds awesome when it rings. I am afraid of a lightning strike so it doesnt stay plugged up all the time.

LA6NCA, Funksammler, what's the case with german phone rotary dialers - some have there numbers backward like here:

I also have seen letters backwards. Was there any standard or are some dialers just replaced after war?

So as you can see I have connected the landline red to La and the white to Lb. I have connected the Tischfernsprecher to Abfr and for good measure the F33 to the Klappenschrank line 2. All working beautifuly - my daughter has fallen in love with it!

Val it does not matter which way round the dial is configured as the pulse generator is geared to the dial so regardless of the dial orientation when you dial one only a single pulse is sent.

I agree! I have always wanted to try this. The next thing could be to connect two fernschreibers over land lines.
