    Heer Bergmuetze or M43 Cap

Showing here an unused/unissued cap of field-gray wool cloth without national insignia. The bill/visor measures 7.5 cm. back-to-front and is stiffly reinforced (cannot tell if cardboard or plastic). There is one reinforced metal grommet vent on each side. The ear flaps secured by two gray-black pebbled buttons and the silver piping around the crown appear to indicate it to be for wear by an Army or Administrative officer. The cotton lining on the interior is maker ink-stamped and reads: Gebr. Alm / Uniform-Muetzen-Fabrik / BERLIN C-2 / Muenzstr. 15 / 1943 / 59".

Assessment by and feedback from knowledgeable members on the Forum as to whether this is a period original or post-war production piece will be appreciated.

    Thanks for looking and regards,

    John

            A complete reproduction
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

I have the same cap that I bought as a Janke copy many years ago

Interesting to see, Andy. Thanks for adding this to the thread...a good reference for other collectors down-the-road.

Look for RBN’rs in most original caps not makers inkstamps.
