Obviously Oesterle Albert is a confirmed, even if rarely seen, mutzenmachermeister of Augsburg, Werderstr. 25:

In 1939 Albert disappeared and the enterprise was renamed to Aloisia (probably his wife):

but they were in the same business in the post-war period and at the same address also:

In 1957 they moved their address to Hegelstr. 16:

and in 1961 the widow retired from the business:

So, in summary, the interior is very captivating, however, the attribution to a well-known character, Ostubaf. Ludwig Spindler (RKT at Arnhem and killed in the Bulge) requires a lot of caution and a solid pedigree. Moreover, the fact that it is not untouched, in the sense that the eagle & skull are fake, is not a good business card. Is it possible that it is the first time it appears on the market? From the pictures, the exterior looks worn out and I see no signs (flashy at least) of mending the black velvet band. But these shots are not sufficient and much closer images are needed to express a minimally founded judgment. Who sells it and at what price?

Indeed the interior promises more than the exterior. Even the fabric does not convince me and the nameplate, though apparently yellowed, helps to increase my suspicion. Thus, the balance hangs more on the negative. However, here the matter always returns to the certainty of its origin, the name of the seller and the price. As my personal opinion, I would not buy it.

Too funny. I just recently completed the book "It never snows in September".
It's a tactic of fakers to try and get collectors excited and cloud their judgement about the rest of an item by adding name tags like that. That situation may apply in this case.

I agree, it is a major red flag when a hat has the nametag of an RKT, w/o any additional provenance. (and it is the second SS visor this week "attributed" to an RKT).
PS--that was a terrific book!NEC SOLI CEDIT
