White Top / Summer TeNo Officer

Summer is the corrupting influence here since summer makes one think of guys with panache sporting white visor caps. I had thought the political white top (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...62489#poststop) would be my ‘fix’ for the summer but then I saw this one and couldn’t resist this one either. Thankfully, summer’s over here in New Hampshire so I won’t be tempted any further by white tops for a few months.

The band is, of course, a black velvet, piped in aluminum cord on both edges indicating the ranks of Bezirksführer up to Kameradschaftführer (or Hauptmann to Oberst). The wreath is bullion with an aluminum kokarde and a stamped eagle of the post 1935 pattern.

This one follows some Luftwaffe styling. The loose fitting top is removable and of a deluxe cotton pique material. The pique is very much like my company grade Luftwaffe (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...57460#poststop) just not as floppy in ‘form’ as the Luft cap. In this case, the top is actually lined in creme colored artificial silk and, of course, has simulated piping.

Interesting how the piping meets both above the velvet band and below where it meets the Dunkelblau very dark Navy Blue bottom. I’ve never seen this on any of my visors.

This one has a full tan leather sweatband and partial side lining. The Luftwaffe style visor has a reinforced edge and green underside. The orange pad under the brow area of the sweatband has disintegrated from age and there are no makers markings.

Not quite sure what the hell “O.D. 3” means on the sweatband. Perhaps someone has an idea. In any event, I imagine that once I go on that long dirt nap and my wife/daughter sells my collection at a local yard sale for pennies on the dollar, some enterprising collector/dealer will swap out the TeNo wreath & eagle for an SS TK & eagle and this cap will get a promotion to General der Waffen SS. For now though, it’s just a TeNo summer white top; seemingly just as hard to find an image of as any white top SS General.

This is a very rare beast and no way of comparison (at least for me) because, as far as I'm concerned, there are just a couple of images in the book Defending the Reich. The base circle and the type of peak suggest that the maker could only be identified looking for a LW white top summer visor with the same design, but this is a very challenging research and perhaps impossible.

Four indeed George. I could buy a white U-Boat captain's cap but I think you would come over and kick my aXX where you've been hunting one so long. Growing up I was expressly told not to piss armed individuals so I'll leave the white Kriegsmarine visors to you.

Heheh, very nice display! Now a white NSDAP double breasted Reichsleitung tunic would be EXCELLENT for your display! ( my honest opinion )

About the U-Boat visor cap, You know it well that I've been looking ( and yet ) an U-Boat Commander white visor cap named, but the most important is that it must be the War Patrol visor cap. It's my Holy Grail!
Sincerely if you get one I would be happy that it will stay in good hands! (BUT, I can accept it If I can see it and touch it someday!!) heheh

Rick, that is a killer cap! My white top has O.D.1 on the underside of the sweat band, anyone out there know what this means or designates?
