A 'floppy' Luftwaffe White Top Visor

I’ve had this awhile. Speaking to a fellow collector it was said that this takes the prize of being the jauntiest looking Luftwaffe visor he’s ever seen.

A light weight, southern front visor. The cotton crown of the cap appears larger in size than normal, almost ‘baggy’. Were it not for the crown piping clearly evident and, of course, the insignia, it has many traits of a Kreigsmarine summer visor.

The white cotton cover has a simulated piping and a reinforced edge as well as a center spring at the front. It's attached at the front with a snap. The aluminum bullion officer’s eagle is backed by a plate of tombac that has a pin attachment...

Anyway, one doesn’t often see Luftwaffe visors with the overhang of a KM visor so, for fun, I thought I would share some images.

                  Rick,

This hat has serious problems, I could take it under my wing so to speak, and see if I couldn't rearrange it's floppy top into a more dignified shape. The most serious problem is that it is not mine, and also the easiest to remedy.

Ha ha...seriously cool cap, it definitely has " the look".

Well Richard, I can see how that would be a problem... If I wasn't so enamored with white topped Luftwaffe caps I can assure you I would send it to you in flash in order to be rid of such a "floppy" hat.

Clearly, the owner had no sense of decorum in buying such a cap. In a wind storm he could've been mistaken for a Frenchman in a white beret.

Well said, Rick. Or perhaps even a chef's hat!

But, great visor. I am a Luft guy, so I love this stuff, but white-topped visors are just a visual treat. This one is the floppiest, and widest one I remember seeing recently.

                      Great score,

                      Jason

Or....a panzer crew member in his summer white beret removable top!!
