I don't think it would really matter Ben, but I like the look of the gray eagles better. That's just a matter of personal taste though. MattComment

Robert, much appreciated although there is clear evidence that this cap had a separate eagle and cockade. It still has some of the stitching thread stuck in the fabric.

Nice find Ben, indeed not often encountered. Herewith an example that was found at a local Italian market. The T-trap was on it although crudely sewn and to what appears a (the original?) replacement.Comment
