    Converted Panzer M42 Fieldcap

I just received this very cool Pz M42 cap that was period converted to make it into an M43. It's very salty but still in good condition and had a separate eagle and kokarde, now removed unfortunately. The edelweiss has been on there for a long time but there is evidence of a previous badge judging by the cut threads.

Has anyone seen another converted Pz M42?
It's the first one I've seen as far as I remember.

            Ben,

have you got the book "Tiger 1 on the Western Front" by Jean Restayn ISBN 2 913 903 134 because on page 74 there is a well known picture of a Panzer NCO wearing a modified Panzer M42 like yours with goggles on it and a scarf round his neck.

It could almost be your cap except that the half moon reinforcement stitch in the visor is closer to the edge,

            Chris

Thanks Bill, it wasn't cheap but worth every penny IMO, it's an absolute screamer!

Does anyone know of some suitable salty insignia for sale anywhere?

                      Rare cap !
The M42 side cap itself in black is already something hard to find !
So you are looking for a T badge M42 set in black ? And a worn one ... ?

Hi Nick, by the looks of things, it would have had this combination.
