The sweat shield does appear to be plastic...Is it flexible or very brittle (hard)?
You hardly ever see these in WW2 German M43 caps btw...only celluloid sweat diamonds in visors!

I think August Geiger of Kiel, Daenischestr. 24, Eingetragene Schutzmarke (Registered Trademark) founded on 1872 (see Wilkins page 321), a war-time maker (licence A1/666), but also a post-war one and so its main customer was the Kriegsmarine and then the Bundesmarine. His logo shows a floating light superimposed over three waves.

Thou must do more detailed photos for a final verdict. From what I see, in fact, it seems to me a post-war headdress, as the others say.
