    Sonderfuhrer

Just to liven up the environment and following the recent and in my view interesting thread on kriegsdauer, I appeal to everyone (I hope with the pleasure of Carlo) this thread which shows, according to me, one of the most beautiful visors appeared on WAF: a Sonderfuhrer, manufactured by Otto Dittmann of Dresden . I still remember that auction and I'm glad that Carlo was able to win it now more than eight years ago:

As the topic is a little remote and sometimes there is still some confusion with the Beamte of various types, I try to summarize some data on the specialist leaders hoping to trigger a fruitful discussion:
This category was formed in 1937, selecting those individuals with special skills for roles to which not enough officers or NCOs were available. They were divided into different positions' designations:
    - Officers’ assignments: stellengruppe B assimilated to Major; stellengruppe K assimilated to Captain; stellengruppe Z assimilated to Lieutenant.
    - Ncos’ assignments: stellengruppe O assimilated to Oberfeldwebel; stellengruppe G assimilated to Unteroffizier.

This distinction was later partially modified in early 1940 and finally at the end of 1942. As of interest here, the 1940 uniform’s regulation prescribed as branch color the gray-blue. Consequently, the visor’s band was made of gray-blue fabric, as well as the pipings. In December 1942 for the personnel on officers’ assignments were introduced the silver chincords, but with an interwoven gray-blue silk thread.
Finally, I just have to add that there was also the stellengruppe R equivalent to colonel, but I think that its members must have been quite a few ones.
I hope in the help of everyone (and especially Andrej "Sprachfuehrer" with his beautiful plates of insignia, collar patches and shoulder cords/boards). Let's see what comes out ...
