      Jerry,

A handsewn eagle doesn't immediately indicate that it has been replaced as some makers had a combination of machine and handsewn. The zig zag stitch on the cockade mixed with a handsewn eagle is unusual but not necessarily bad. The sewing is well done but I am viewing this on my phone whilst waiting for a doctors appt so that I may be missing details like evidence of a previous eagle application. A nice looking cap though.

        Great M40 Cap Jerry
From what I'm seeing on my computer screen, cap eagle looks reapplied
The body of the eagle appears very loose, not something I would expect to see on a wartime applied eagle and there looks to be a thin stitch line above the eagle in post 15, bottom photo
Still a very desirable tropical cap

          Jerry,

Eagle is reapplied in my opinion but I see a clear line where the original was. This second model is far less desirable than the 1st model cap that started this thread. Matt
