Heer Pith Helmet for Opinions

Hi All,

I am thinking about buying my first pith helmet and this one seems like a good candidate. I would like some information about this pith helmet and opinions about it before I buy it. Thank you very much in advance for your help!

What is a fair price to pay for a Pith 2nd pattern helmet in this condition?

Original 2nd model indeed. Looks unused to me.

Yes unissued war surplus 2nd model. Hundreds of these were found at the wars end. Thought to be for use on the Sud Front. I would hold off and pick up a faded cloth 1st model helmet that did see service in Afrika as opposed to these that sat out the entire war....

Sorry, the 2nd pattern was used in the Southern or "Med" Front, southern France, Italy, Greece, the Balkans etc & possibly the Ukraine. The earlier cloth 1st pattern was used in Afrika. If you do pickup one of the 2nd patterns, make sure it does not have the "Germany" or "Made in Germany" stamp on the inside.
