It's mothed pretty bad, is there any proof it's Kaps, and post your concerns specificly , is it the emblems , the piping, the material, the lining....the brim the sweat band ? I think the photos kinda make it difficult to see it clearly enough (reminds me of e bay shots).

IMO, it is simply a rebadged Kaps WH Infantry officer's visor. You can see remnants of thread where the wreath was once sewn.

It is not a repro - every detail is consistent with PK production. The cap bands on some of the WH Kaps visors are dark, almost black, making it easy to pass off as SS to the untrained eye (only problem - its not velvet)

if this visor is deemed a reproduction ..seller should not only pull add ,but apologize for placing repro on WAF and asking such outragius price !!!even if it was original ...if not comply ....BAN from site ..... EC

I wouldn't say reproduction but not an original SS cap.

This is the third SS "Kaps" visor that I have seen SS-ified this year.

Definitely a Paul Kaps cap. If the band is actually black, it may be just an officer upgrade. Otherwise it's an SS conversion, which is very sad for such a hard to find maker. Especially since Kaps wreaths are extremely high-quality bullion and unique in there own right.

                    not

agreed, this is original Kaps heer officer's ss ified, definitely not a 12k hat

Every inch an authentic Paul Kaps, it's just not SS.

The bottom line is that Kaps would have made it with a black velvet band for an SS Officers cap, no exceptions. They were the masters of using velvet materials for their hats.

It's possible of course for an SS Officer to have purchased a Heer Officers Kaps but the fact is, as already pointed out, that the stitching for the Heer wreath and kokarde are still attached to this cap.

Interesting Ben! What made you do such an abrupt about-face from your first reply?

The second reply was regarding the Butcheck "Kaps" visor discussed in the ss forum. It is currently on the Butcheck auction. J
