    M40 Black SS Panzer Sidecap.

    Hi Gents!
    I have some doubts on these cap, not for the insigna, because Mr. Ian Hulley
    said that are not common, but......originals!!!

    Now I have more pictures of it, and seems that is made with these mixed wool material call "Nesselstoff" that I have seen on these thread,..... http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=610838&page=5

    The wool looks like the Panzer Sidecap of Mr. Chris "90th Light"!
    Do you have some more opinions on these cap????

                  Hello jules61,

                  thank you for the reference to the thread about "Nesselstoff" but your cap is not made from Nesselstoff. The basic weave of the cloth is different.

                  Instead, your cap is made from a type of "ribbed wool" which is very close in weave to this WH black panzer sidecap made by "Willy Sprengpfeil" pictured below which was discussed in this thread;

                  This type of ribbed wool is sometimes seen used to make a panzer wrap but is not common. However is was also used by the KM to make uniforms and sidecaps. Thus one always needs to check that an SS black panzer cap is not blue-black KM sidecap that has been rebadged,

                    Here is a KM "pea jacket made from ribbed wool with an HG black panzer sidecap on it, also made from a finer ribbed wool. You can see the colour check here between panzer black and KM blue-black,
