In my opinion the cap itself was not issued to the Waffen-SS. I cannot comment further with any degree of knowledge.

The eagle is a rare and very sought-after variation of BeVo machine-woven cap eagle ... the head is the difference. I would strongly advise you to NOT touch the cap in any way until you have had an expert opinion on it and even then take great care not to damage that eagle ... leave it where it is even if the experts condemn the cap itsef.

That the insigna are authentic and rare is a good news!
But.......! Where I can find an expert on the SS caps if not on WAF?
It is very likely that I'll never know!!
