Of note: you mention 'Volksturm' cap probably because of the boy soldier image you found, but of course these caps have nothing to do with late war or Volksturm. Just foreign stocks to used up by sometimes indeed second line troops.

I do appreciate it that just makes the cap much, richer in history and cooler if you ask me.
And by 2nd Line troops do you mean like reserve troops?

Hi Justin,

Yes, 2nd line troops are for example those used for occupation duties, non-elite foreign volunteers etc.
Of course this is not a golden rule, as nothing ever is
