Gorgeous visor! Just checked the Volksbund site for "Wedler" and there are 134 entries. None of the gentlemen listed there with a first name starting with a G or O were officers so your guy probably survived the war.

Thanks guys, and especially Kurt - I appreciate that bit of info. I have also been told he is not on the rank list for Major and above after '44, but I can't confirm that either. May have to go the NARA route with this.
