You may indeed be right, Dave! But I've heard collector's debating thespecifications for "true crusher caps" as long as I've been collecting
and I don't think there has been a consensus yet!
Many don't feel that a true crusher could ever have a sweatshield
in it, period. (or a logo) Simply because the sweatshield would've
broke the first time the cap was crushed! Yet, I don't think you
share that opinion, do you?Comment

I sure don't Brian!! I have seen and owned far to many caps to adopt that 'collector myth'!
Granted lots were removed....
Maybe we should start a thread regarding....m37 'crush' cap interiors

Dave, do start it. I tend to agree with you. I think it's a converted peaked cap and not a true crusher. But, still, one heck of a cap.Comment

Thanks guys for all the comments..I too feel it was a converted visor after examining it more and listining to your comments. Yes..it does have more "stuffing" like a regular visor than a true crusher. I still cant see that it ever had any cloth insignia..there is no visible stiching lines or thread holes that are evident. I think the metal insignia were there from the begining not cloth. I'm just happy that it is real..not being a cap guy..I need all the assistance I can get..this forum really helped. It does have the character..thats why I wanted it..now I guess I will have to find a nicely used stug wrap to complement it.

I like to think I have an open mind when it comes to this stuff. And I've
learned to 'never say never'. But it is going to take one hell of a lot of
convincing to get me to believe that Greg's cap was released into the
public with that front band seam peaking out from behind that wreath
like that. It is unsightly and I do not believe any 3rd Reich cap maker
would do that. It doesn't make any sense and I have never, ever seen
that done before. Have any of you?Comment

Brian, as you might very well know....visor caps were made from pre-assembled parts. They come down the line and a worker does his/her little job....send it further and so on and so on.
How often even in really fine caps do we see machine stitching going suddenly out of line?
Consider the cap band at the initial construction period and the worker day dreaming....assembly line boredom and a number to produce etc., it could happen!
This isn't a 'name brand' cap but more a 'plain lable' to be sold anywhere as a generic...

I'm still very intrigued with your cap. Can you tell if the visor was
handstitched on like the sweatband? Is the band itself stiff cardboard
