It's a great quality, only the top piping seems fake, different and in bad quality. Propaply this cap never had a silver top piping... the lower Paspel are sewn on as well, but in much better quality and not onto an existing black one like on the top. Perhaps someone thought there has to be a top piping that fits the lower and added it.

The deathhead is made from Bakelit... Seems to be a strange fake if it is one.

The LW eagle is only sewn on on the corners, so you can have look behind it and it's obvious on this cap was always a LW in this size.

I think Bubaku was right with Luftwaffe-Kommando 1943 and I will recommend my friend to remove the fake top Paspel.

My idea with LW-GFP was the wrong way, they had grey caps with whatever eagle, but they had indeed deathheads, so the possibility of Luftwaffe-Kommando wearing black hats like this sounds not strange anymore. Since we cannot expect to find a pic of all special forces in action wearing their uniforms, there will never be a proof.

Deathheads and black color was hip in 1943 and if LW special forces would create a unique look for their outfit and they let do this in Italy were they were based, a Schirmmütze like this would fit the context.

It's too odd for beeing a fake.
Great quality!?!?!? I'm sorry to be harsh, but what on earth are you smoking!? Stiching looks like a drunk, high 3 year old did it, eagle with a black background!? You have gotta be kidding!

On second thought, I agree. It is special forces "scheissetruppen" They were the ones who cleaned up after Goering, and also wiped his #&@

Guess the entire community is stupid, you're the only expert. sorry for not respecting you.

EDIT: and hip!?!? really!?!?!? "I think it's hip to have a bright, fuzzy pink top with a purple and yellow polka dot band and a bright orange, embroidered rats arse on my hat, so I'll have my uberpoopenfuhrer visor made up like that!"

Just because there is an SS officer with GFP cyphers on his shoulderboards in a picture with Göring does not mean that he was in any way connected with Göring, the LW GFP, or the LW. All those DRK nurses in the photograph ain't in the Luftwaffe, either. I doubt that cap goes back any further than the mid 1960's in origin.

Well I do not think its a fake as fakes are smart recreations or copies of things that have existed. As such a cap was never seen before it must be a one of a kind very rare original LW GFP cap.
I have many of these unique pieces in my collection and they are all very scarce, so rare that I have never even found any pictures of them before!
This is a good sign otherwise you would find that copies have been produced. Logical isnt it?
Conclusion A very unique original item

You also need to love that it was made in 1943, even thoug they stopped using black ss caps years earlier. Also love that marker-written "1943"

damn, these fakers are getting good
