Date would probably be in the 50s. The polizei star on the PP Berlin winter hat shown earlier on this thread was worn on the cap band. No other badges were worn on these caps until sometime in the 60s. The polizei star was then moved to the top of the white section of the cap and an aok leaf with a BRD cockade in the centre was placed on the cap band. These white topped caps were standard wear for all police on the beat. They usually had blue piping arond the crown. I've never seen a cap like yours with a removable white top.

I would say, from looking at your photos, that the holes in the top were made by someone adding TR insignia, not PP Berlin. The wooly looking cap band on your cap definitely puts it in the very early Berlin polizei time period and it sholud not have both insignia. Onlt the star on the cap band. I'll illustrate this tomorrow when I post my pictures.
