    Unknown White Top Visor

This was on eBay.de not long ago. Does anyone have any idea what the origin of this visor may be? The lack of ridged cap band tells me its is not luftwaffe, and has been rebadged. The body of the cap seems to be blue, with a gray cap band (similar to the color of sonderfuhrer caps). The white top looks like cotton gabardine.

Tough one. The chinstrap appears to be more civil in design, and the piping is either a midnight blue or black.

Did this possibly start life as a DLV or Luftschutz whitetop?? Billbert

If Luftschutz, it should have violet piping. If DLV, it should have a ribbed mohair band. I am stumped on this one.....

Interesting, that would explain the grey band, but what about the piping?

One thing that strikes me about this cap is the thickness of the paste board, its a lot taller than the LW models I have seen. Could this possibly be a transitional Reichswehr cap?

I´m also surprised to see the blue felt on the inside - not familiar with such a construction from what I know from white LW caps.

@billbert, I am not certain, but I think LSP visors have ribbed bands as well? Do you have a photo of one?

@stonemint, could this be a sonderpolizei visor, similar to this one you posted from your collection?

Basel--no, my hat is a Postschutz for the Occupied Eastern Territories. The piping is green, and the band is actually a gray-green.

                          Not DRK.....
There should be a mouse-grey piping at the lower cap band.....
DRK white tops are VERY rare

And..... We know white tops as being used in warm / hot climates but DRK white tops were used by the "Wasserrettungsdienst" (water resque service) , these white tops had water resistant linings inside....

Got it - piping looked darker on my screen.

I'm beginning to think this purchase was a mistake.

I recently received this cap, and luckily it has a stamp under the sweatband. I believe it says either "P.O. Berlin DB," or "P.P. Berlin DB." As for shadows of past insignia, there is a set of holes in the pasteboard that can be seen in the photos. It has truly hard to tell if the piping is blue or black, but after some comparisons I believe it is a deep midnight blue. Does anyone recognize the stamp?
