I think it is something much more simple and devious. I think ppl read the forum seeing these caps, bid on the cap knowing it's bad and hope to quickly resell at a higher dollar?

Plus, the buyer/re-seller knows that the hat has already been outed, affecting its marketability. (I also keep a detailed list of bad visors by organization/farbe, that makes it easy to confirm when these things are being re-sold.)
Still, I am sure there are people here who see the thread, and buy based on the same--but I doubt they are going to get much return on their 'investment", given the prices these fakes sell for.NEC SOLI CEDIT

A beautiful setting (I think Ridley Scott could not have done better!).
A fake Derwig in a dump. Over 200 Euros and there are still nearly six days ...

This time an outdoors farce:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Elite-XX-Schi...IAAOSwr7ZW3DNX
Just a day and six hours before the auction end, it reached 200 € and, be careful, from 250 € there is an extra gift to! Probably Uncle Adolf's mustache
By the way, the one mentioned above is already at 318 € three days and five hours before the deadline

Looks like the buyer of this Janke read our thread on Jankes, but only after purchase:

Now relisted:

Evidently the first purchaser, (d** *e) - € 299,99 on last February, 28, realized the crap he had done and he did not pay the seller of this garbage, a miki 8844 of Binswangen, who is now trying to find something else plucking chickens. Just to confirm that the stupid's mother is always pregnant, the first of the two visors I reported few days ago, is now reaching the price of 418 euro a day and 21 hours yet before the auction closes; the second was unfortunately sold for € 356 (and this confirms the visual power of the settings against the idiots).

I know it is the wrong thread but this is too evocative and I could not resist.
The shrunken head of von dem Bach reminds me of something ...
However, only euro 463 and three days to the auction's close:

Hello Chris
Actually on eBay Germany they sprout no more than one / two real headgears (visors and field caps) a week and still of fairly common type and in very questionable storage conditions. In addition, it is by now a place full of scammers, crooks, and, as in this case, suckers. The buyer has made a bargain. I must also say that the Germans sellers have got into the habit, typically Italian, of starting already with a price high enough to anyhow guarantee them a profit. Some years ago, if someone dared to do so, he did not receive any bids. Now the situation has changed and not better ...

A classic infantry Regent. Four days and twenty hours to the deadline; starting price euro 100 and already two offers. Obviously, it is pure garbage, but I'm curious to see how much they will have the courage to offer.

We had slowed this kind of crap down back in the late 2000's, but now they are picking up steam with a new generation of [uninformed] collectors...NEC SOLI CEDIT
