Curiously, Göring's guards were permitted to bear weapons throughout the night, as Göring feared a murder attempt by Fegelein's SS troopers that were billetted in the same castle . . . Göring's caravan caught up to him the next day, prior to his transfer to Kitzbuhel . . . and his American captors at that time were very permissive - even allowing him to make uniform changes at will - which would explain the multiple types of uniforms seen in the photos during his time of surrender.
