Hopefully, that covers some of the interesting points to note and lets those people see what they were asking about,

Caps by this maker are also found without grommets as the following example shows,

Another interesting point of observation is that every time one encounters an SS M43 by this maker with grommets, the grommets are always different from one cap to another. It is rare to find any two which have the same type of grommet used.

Of course the caps and the grommets are all 101% original and we have examples of this type of SS M43 found in known veteran bring backs from May 1945 and before.

So what is this cap exactly ?

          A factory made M43 with grommets ???

A factory made M43 with grommets added to the cap after it was made. Perhaps added at unit or individual level ???

A cap predating the official order for the M43. Perhaps best described as a "M42 n/A" ???

A later war SS GJ Bergmutze made along side regular M43's ???

Do you realize that you are showing the same cap posted by Mike Davis on Page 1, Post #1?

              Yes.

However, it is not the only one without grommets by this maker that I have seen. It just happened to be the one I had fresh images of on file,

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.
