..Maybe we can get Mr. Davis to begin a thread on REAL M43s....
What a pipe dream! An odd few on this forum willing to pollute such a thread with their garbage and insisting, carrying on about how the examples could, possibly, why not, please-pretty-please be original.
Ooops sorry, how politically incorrect of me.

It is all about value and that is trying to work out what one person will sell for and what one person will buy for.
To quote a respected English judge on this matter in regard to the price of an item during a case about contract law, "a price is nothing more than an offer to all the world it is an invitation to treat"
Demand for Panzer M43's is based on how many collectors are willing and able to pay US$8K to buy one. Simple as that. If there are buyers at that price then I am sure there are sellers at that price.
If not and demand continues to increase the prices may rise to US$10K or US$15K and even higher who knows but simple economics tells us this will be the case.
On the other hand 5, 10 or 20 years from now there may be no where near the number of collectors with buying power chasing this stuff esp. in the USA which gets economically poorer by the day the way things are panning out for them right now and the need to start paying back what has been borrowed. That is the risk one takes when one buys. Higher the price then higher the risk but also may be higher the profit. Who knows what the future of Panzer M43's will be in the current economic and political climate,
Chris
p.s. not one mention so far about the price of tropical M40's with soutache still attached. Now if you want a rising star when it comes to caps then watch that space.

Chris, I could not agree more. It is scary when I walk into the SOS and look around at the crowd and with the exception of maybe 5% of the attendees I am one of the younger guys in the room at 49!! That doesn't bode too well for the hobby 15 or 20 years from now. You'd better love this stuff and be willing to go to the grave with it because when it starts to sell off it's gonna be ugly and I promise you this ... EVERY hobby sells off at some point ......EVERY ONE!!!
As far as prices for certain pieces the only piece I really see WAAAAY out of bounds in my opinion is the RK!! There were THOUSANDS of these awarded and half of those guys had dups!!! They AIN'T RARE!! Oh yeah, I'm not payin' $8K for an M43 either...of any kind...but thats just me. Alex

It's not about the item, it's how to get the money, that's the whole game, even during recession this game continues in society ..
Your right about the RK's, but what if you need one within half a hour, which is the trent nowadays, you just put the asking price on the table , that's how it goes with addicts and some people know that.
Who cares about new generation ?
Not many, that's clear, the majority only cares about now.
Saving the world from disaster doesn't work, so why trying to save a hobby..
