    A thread on J.P.Mol,Breda(Dutch made)German headgear

    A thread dedicated to J.P. Mol, Breda(Dutch made)German headgear!

I thought it would be interesting to show the many many examples of J.P.Mol, Breda (=city), Holland, Dutch made/Dutch distributed German caps!

Note that ALL shown examples have been posted on WAF before.
(so credit goes to WAF members for prior posting!)
Now being repeated and combined in one thread (including examples from my own collection), for the sake of education on these!

Lets start with a Dutch enlisted field cap, manufactured for the Dutch army, but
post capitulation reissued to the Wehrmacht with added German insignia!

Here's another example from my own collection which started off as a standard Dutch pre-war field cap (like the one that started this thread)
but got modified during the occupation for German use. Again J.P.Mol marked
for issuance to the Dutch Army. Note seams on the sides where the Dutch flap got modified to a German shape.

J.P. Mol not only made caps for the Dutch Army (later modified by Mol for issuance to the Wehrmacht) but also caps for the Dutch NSB Nazi party
      (pre-war and war time)
Here an example from my collection. Note again J.P.Mol Breda maker info!

After the occupation J.P. Mol continued making hats, this time for the occupiers.
        Here an early pith helmet!
Note J.P. Mol Breda liner stamp!

Here a (non-military) Polizei visor stamped with J.P.Mol Breda information under the sweat band. (thanks for allowing me to post this Bill!)

Note that the stamp is identical to the one in the early DAK pith hemet!

Here an example of a non armed forces visor affiliated with J.P.Mol Breda.
A high official NSDAP cap which also has the J.P.Mol stamp appearing inside the sweatband like the Polizei visor and DAK pith helmet.
Additionally its RZM tagged, which leads me to believe its German made and distributed by J.P. Mol.

Here's a Kriegsmarine Donald Duck cap made by J.P.Mol Breda!
Again J.P.Mol Breda stamp appearing inside the headband!
(just like the DAK pith, Polizei cap, NSDAP visor)

Close up of the Mol Breda unofficial Kriegsmarine stamp
                and
what an official stamp looks like!
                B.A.-W = BekleidungsAmt Wilhelmshaven
also "K" for Kiel, "B" for Bremen existed...but the Dutch "JPM-B"
just mimicks those official stamps on this private purchase piece!

They probably got hold of a genuine German made one as a pettern to copy,
which included the official Kriegsmarine "BekleidungsAmt stamp"
and created their own version of such a stamp on this (private purchase) cap!

Here a dealer web offer of a pre-war Dutch Kepi made my J.P.Mol Breda.
Note that the stamp is totally identical to the ones that appear in the headgear made for the Germans!

Any other examples of "J.P.Mol Breda headgear (German or Dutch) out there?

NickG --- first of all thanks a lot for this great thread idea . You just helped me learn something about my own collection which I hadn't been aware of. My personal expression of gratitude is the addition of two side caps to this thread that I haven't posted before. Both came with a huge estate from a Kriegsmarine officer (with a Dutch-made, privately tailored uniform) and are similar in construction. I remembered that one of them was stamped & just checked and there it was BREDA

                    Danke Nick!

Note the piping application... had I seen these caps on a flea market without the context, I would have walked right past them...

                          WUNDERBAR!
Even the material on the field gray one is Dutch Trikot Material
intended for Dutch officers uniforms. Wonderful caps!

                            Nick,

you just made me check the inside of that Dutch made field grey KM officers uniform from the same grouping. Guess what...

I know this is a headgear forum but I think these pics belong into this thread:

There goes Breda again. There are breeches made from the exact same material and liner as the field blouse and there was a breast eagle in that grouping also which would make most collectors run away --- needless to say it shares some characteristics with the eagle on the Breda made side cap.

Thought you might enjoy to see this posted here as well. Kurt
