I heard some opinions that reissued Dutch caps were issued to the second line troops. Well these here weren’t Please note M42 side cap introduced in July 1942 and white branch colour on rank insignia. I assume that picture has been taken late summer 1942, earliest:

Finally I was able to pick up one of them!

Insignia were delicately stripped. Shades form eagle and cockade are well visible. Please note that flap secure stitches were not cut.

Sure I do! Cap is really nice, 58 size and personilized. I can even see genuine thread and stitches, new set should arrive till end of this week. I would show how's restoration went

What is more I own matching pants in cut close to M40. Will post everything soon.

Picked this one up last week, still in doubt of not buying its minty Heer brother as well, but that one was a "bit" more expensive.

Another Mol made sidecap but with an unusual touch.


standard EM issue, the mothes loved it too...


CM 1940 and size 57 marked, with an unusual nametag: L Hener

I was able to buy nice set of used insignia which nicely cover shades and perfectly fit to the traces from stitches left by genuine attached eagle and cockade:

I would like to add something to the picture from post No.34:- Turkistan volunteers in corner shop, somewhere in Europe. Please note two patterns of captured Dutch headgear:- sidecaps converted to the German standard ( No. 1-2) and some with untouched Dutch cut and only German insignia added (No. 3-6):

I’ve made great step forward in establishing closer information about side cap couple days ago. Honestly, I was in shock!

My cap turned to be the EARLIEST PATTERN OF OST-LEGIONEN side cap prescribed by Wehrmacht regulations and what is more conversion from to German pattern has been done by using RARE Bevo weaved cockade


As You can see the cap has been converted between autumn 1942 and spring/summer 1943. Accordingly to information provided these cap insignia were prescribed for all Ost units except Kosaken and Turkistanen:

Next order, from 29^th May 1943 prescribed new method of indicating nationality of new launched units, which are well know and recognizable
