I suppose these type of questions always arise in this situation when it isnt in my collecting area. But what is one of these worth?
I had seen yours, Jacques, on the estand listed around the 500-600 mark. With consideration to the quality still on this cap, of mine, would you guesstimate around the 400-500 mark?
I suppose that I would try and trade it for some LW/Flak items but an idea of the value never hurts.

I must say that if you thought that my comment about your eagle looking like a seagull caught you off guard, caused you any concern, then I apologize.

To me it does look more like a seagull than an eagle with its mouth open

I too have never seen another one except for the one jacquesf has shown, does this make it wrong? No!. Does this make it unusual, yes!

I would really like to see the period pics of this eagle, after all it is all about learning and expanding the current knowledge base.

I do think that the cap is original, the vent shown is of a known type, the stitching looks okay, it is just that I have never seen this eagle except for these two caps

May I ask if the other vent, is the same as the one shown? It appears in one of the inside pictures to have had some tape? over it at some time?

      Regards,

      Grant

The darkness on the lower vent?
It is a discoloration, but not of tape or anything that you can feel. But it is a green color and as Im looking at it up close my first thought is that some of the green on the cap ran through onto the white. It does look like its been worn but very very little. Chances are only a handful of times Id imagine.
Both vents are in great shape. but thats the only explanation I have about the color (if worn) vent on the right side.

          Greetings All,

I personally do not care for the first eagle posted. I dislike the wing detail more than I do the mouth. I'll give Johnny a call. He has seen alot more BeVo than I have.

seems to be same eagles, with identical default on their left wings, located at 3rd and 4th feather unperfect separation :

            on C. Watson's sidecap

            on Jasquesf 's sidecap

is there at least one period pic clearly showing this "open beak" eagle ?
are thosee eagles an acceptable variation, or just fakes ?
