    Peter,
Does your's have an identical Stirndrückfrei sweatband application? Do you still feel it is a replacement?

Good question, but Yes, mine is altogether different. There is no velvet.

Thank you for all the interesting opinions !

I still think it's a replacement, I'm perhaps wrong, but the day you have to sell it... every one will ask you the same question...

          "SB replacement, no ?"

On a regular A-SS service cap don't believe the RZM regulation allow's such a SB (WH officer is not A-SS...).
Of course on a so called A-SS "Sonder-Anfertigung" it could be possible, but not on a black "Dienstmütze".

Any way thanks a lot for the opinions !

Boy, this is a tough one. I dunno.

That band has the look of a Janke or similar, for sure.

              Else, very nice.

Very interesting conclusion on your part. I have 12 Allgemeine SS em hats in my collection and none have the velvet. Also, I never remember seeing another of the RZM type with the velvet at any show, and I go to several each year.
                Regards, Peter

                  Let's apply some logic here.

Thanks to Chris, we can see that the ebay Pz cap shows the exact same style of stirndruckfrei sweatband. The weight of the zig zag stitching is the same, the perforations in the front are the same. That's why it was important to find out the maker of the black cap.

The only reason to doubt the s-band on the black cap would be if the stitching holding the black velvet strip to the cap frame is hand done. But as we've not seen any photos of this stitching, it's impossible to draw a conclusion.

                      Velvet SB

My logic is as follows.... Black SS em hats are relatively common in the scheme of things. Anyone with a modest interest in SS items typically has one. That said, there must be one other #26 out there with a velvet type SB. If one other can be produced, the case is iron clad IMO.

Courtesy of F-B, here is a Pekuro non-sonderanfertigung SS visor with their Stirndruckfrei feature:

Schlientz certainly made a lot of caps over a long period of time, with early and late RZM tag styles. Anything is possible. There are silk-topped officer visors for sure, so why not this?

But tough to defend on resale without another good example.

I have seen the GJ/38 leather mark as in the Wh. Schlientz cap more than once, usually in combination with Schlientz caps but also in several Allgemeine Black visors. Does someone know the origin of these initials?
