I have personally never seen such SB application (for the particular cap type) but from the pics it looks it was applied like that from birth.

Peter, do you also think the black material that the SB is zig zag stitched to it is also replaced? Because if so, then the visor of the cap would have been reatached/restitched then.

Yes, for sure!! The leather SB should come right up to the visor.
