Interesting just how close the Halfar's are. This was the observation of one collector having a hands on the other day.

Now the Halfar Panzer M43 has been written off as a cheap fake. What is interesting is that if it is a fake then it is an exact fake and not a variation from the norm.

Such an exact fake that it might in fact be the real deal and anyone could be excused for asking why it is not view as original. The footprints of Carl Halfars factory are there.

Would it not now be worth doing such comparisons with the Panzer M43 cap which started this thread and may be Scott has done this with examples in his collection hence why he believes things to be right.

Now lets see what others think, should be interesting,

      Chris

        Hi Ebony

Thanks for posting these additional photos of these M43s. And for revealing Chris's up to date equipment This discussion has been helpful from many members different experiences and points of view.

        And Chris,

While i can make no claim to be an authority on these or any other caps for that matter, i do not make a living selling them like some. I notice the Vet "one looker" bring back and black Pz Halfar have similar buttonholes, while the Org Todt does have a more pronounced keyhole shape to the buttonholes ?

This Forum is at its best when a discussion is being held and knowledge is being shared.
If everyone's knowledge is improved then the fakers only lose...

        with kind regards
        Tim

Good question about the button holes Tim.

The Halfars have a manufacturers footprint when it comes to the buttons holes in that there is no reinforcement stitch running in the opposite direction. This is a bit hard to explain so I have got ebony to take some pictures of the button holes of each cap and I have used a pointer to show you where to look.

The Halfar's have no additional reinforcement stitch at the end of the button hole itself yet the one-looker does. Several other M43's I looked at also had this additional reinforcement stitch but so far no Halfar's. A footprint for sure.

This is the sort of attention to detail that a faker would over-look but not a cap
which was made at the Halfar factory itself. Certainly not something you find on a cheap fake.

Will be interesting to see what others with Halfar M43's say about theirs so here are the 3 images for all to see (look where the pointer is)

          Many thanks, Chris

I am just bringing this up to the top again because I have confused threads and thought that the images of the Halfar Panzer M43 button holes had been deleted when in fact this is the thread I posted them on,
