The buckram pastebaord looks to be the coated (water proof) type. I had an Erel with this same pastebaord, very plyable and crushable, but yet water resistant and rigid enough, to hold a nice form.

As stated before, probably a walking out hat rather then a field cap.

    I like it

Spot on about the pasteboard my friend, it has been given a waterproof coating.
I hadn't thought about Allied caps with this same type of material used for the shield, I was a bit slow there because I've got this RAF Officers cap sitting next to the Infantry crusher on the same shelf!

It would be nice if "Necker" would post here why he wanted this cap discussed.

I am glad it was discussed, very nice looking cap. I missed it on the e-stand. Jacques

I've seen that "non cello" type material a few times, one in a VT visor with VA label, looks o.k. to me.

What pisses me off though Jacques is that you put something on the estand then someone comes along and casts doubts on it but then disappears. I don't mind discussing anything I have for sale but how can you defend your items against someone who doesn't explain himself!?

                Here is my reaction:

The cap looks on the outside very promising, better: I can't see anything wrong with it.

Inside: I see a grey sweatband that I am not to fond of, but oke.

What however the most distrubs me is that I see a white liner which is brandnew with a heavily used diamond attached to it.

I see a lot op positive reactions, no problem with it, but can someone explain the matter with the diamond to me?

Even worse, is when some one sells you an item guarenteed as original. It gets outed as a fake, even after a hands on and this individual does not even bother to explain himself or the item. Jacques

Well, unfortunately when items aren't textbook or familiar problems are to be expected, one can only try to show examples that are considered genuine, the rest of the anomalies need some digging.
Found the picture of simular sweatshield, don't know where I got it or who's it is, sorry, it is just for comparising, that's what we do I suppose.
This material always shows dark colouring with age, often not corresponding with the wear on the inner cloth material.

Great disscution, but i would not buy this cap to be honest. Good luck.

                            Cheers, Les.

Man I am at a loss. If some of you can’t tell period construction and materials visors might not be your thing. Not one single red flag here. Just because it does not have your standard cello shield?

If this is not textbook period construction and materials nothing else is.
