still not convinced look how its made
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

              Lenny,

I can't argue with absolute certainty whether the last two pictures are M43s or bergmutze. Certainly single button Heer Bergmutze are rare birds in themselves. The top pic was from a series of photos showing off the MP 44. The captions state the soldier was a grenadier. Certainly no insignia to suggest he was a Mountain trooper or jager. The bottom photo is captioned as an officer from Division GD. Whats interesting is the hat bears a striking resemblance to the LW single button M43 Einheitsmutze which was a general issue item for all LW personnel including females.

Here is a single button hat that I've had for at least 20 years. There was a discussion on the forum about it and the belief is its an Org Todt hat (because of its construction), even though the Army Trap appears to be original to the hat.

Oh heres where it was discussed:

Thanks for the photos. I was familar with one of them which was the only single button heer hat I have ever seen photos of. Personally I would pass on any heer examples offered to me without extreme provenance. Luft and SS are another story perhaps...

                    Hi John,

I agree that textbook is probably the way to go but there were a lot of strange variations out there. Heres another photo from my buddy Bill petz. No indication the soldier was GJ. Jim

This one isn't a single button.Just thought it was cool. Jim

I guess I'm kind of missing why the subject cap has to be a heer example in the first place. It's not RB numbered, so why couldn't it have been originally intended for the SS? I can't see any signs of removed insignias either way from the pics.

I am also not sure of this one, it is in some ways very different to the others. It did come with an "unpicked" SS trapezoid, but with no provenance.
