Wasn't there one of these DAK "Generals" visors at the SOS?

Also, the one in the Shutt video is also an "erel".....

Well being that the direction of the weave is all wrong what is your thoughts on it's originality? I've had too many visors with minor anomolies to ever say 'never' in this hobby. IMO MOST visors had the weave running in the aforesaid directions - but not all.

I have seen it. It has some other anomolies if I remember right. Post some pics and we can talk.

I would like to thank all of you for your help regarding this cap, and in ascertaining it’s credibility, or not. This discussion has been especially helpful to those of us whose expertise lies in other areas.

One thing I did find troubling during this thread were the condescending, flippant jabs and remarks, which were done in order to ridicule. There is no place for pettiness on a learning forum, such as ours. Unfortunately, this behavior occurs far too often. I have also noticed that sometimes when a new, or veteran, forum member puts up an item for discussion, which may have been discussed before, the inquirer is sometimes chastised by the in house experts for having to discuss "the same thing over and over again". May I suggest that if a person is tired of seeing the same things discussed time and again, don’t get involved in the discussion unless you choose to do so in an academic fashion, after all, we don’t all read the same articles, or have the same interests, until something out of our area may come our way warranting more information.

In closing, and due to this discussion, I have learned that this cap was made from original Erel parts, post WW II. As one person put it, it has been "re-upholstered". I can live with this and like it for what it is anyway. For what I have invested in it, the General’s insignia and chin cord alone could not be purchased for any less on today’s market. If, or when, I decide to sell this cap everyone can be assured that it will be sold with the buyer knowing the truth regarding it’s background.

I really do appreciate those of you who have helped me in the research of this cap.

              Regards and many thanks,

              Chuck

I cannot agree more with this remark...

I myself have learned a few new things today and I want to thank NTZ and Gerard for their good explanations of why this cap was bad. Not that I will ever need the information because war badges are cooler then caps...
