Well, I don't see anything wrong with the wreath / cockade device. I have added some light and it looks ok to me:

Head gear is not my issue but the family Blomjous is a well known family in the cloth industrie. Also during the war. They came from Den Haag.

So it could be possible that they made this hat for a German officer. This could be an explanation why it is not a textbook example.

I saw a german kriegsflag here on the forum which was made by the dutch factory Van Vlissingen located in Helmond.

There are leather U boats sets and k98 pouches made by the Valk factory from Amsterdam. There was one for sale on the e-stand a while ago

Peek & Cloppenburg made camo cloth for the Germans

Here is label from the uboat jacket made by the De Valk factory in Amsterdam. A lot of factories collaborated with the germans during the war

Look how they spelt Grosse. The german had another for the double s. Which i haven't on my keyboard to show.

Exactly. Thats not black cotton anyway.....its matt black painted bullion, notice the twisted ring effect that cotton cannot ever resemble, and the silver highlights.

Yes, agree, now you have posted the closer pic of the cockade, its obviously painted bullion rather than thread.

Personally, I like the cap. One cannot hold it to German standards. It does look like the s/b was re-sewn.
I cannot recall what pre-/post-war Dutch military headgear looks like, but I doubt it was a sattelform visor with white piping and a green band. Just another example of a tailoring house trying to survive economically during the occupation--just like the Parisian haberdashers.
