This was discussed in a earlier thread and it appears to be a rare Truppensonderiest (Special Troops) In excellent condition except for the sweatband and some mothing at the rear of the cap band. I'd like to get a idea of value...thanks for your help

First of all I would like to point out that I also believe your visor shows TSD piping. I have to admit, however, that I was not aware that there also existed TSD NCO's --- you may want to look into this (I may be wrong)...

The value usually compares to that of regular Admin Officers. For some reasons many collectors are apparently more interested in those branches that were directly involved with combat. For me that is a real puzzle since TSD only existed for the last months of the war and is extraordinarily rare. If I were in your shoes, I would not sell it --- you will not receive a price that is justified for the rarity but you'll also not find another one if you are ever looking for one...

Yes, the visors referred to are on Helmut Weitze's site, and both, IMHO, have issues, both with authenticity, and condition. One is dated 1942; the TSD didn't come into being until Jan. 1944, and the alter arte is missing the eagle. Both look like transportatation caps to me.

Absolutely --- I agree! This doesn't stop other visors on that site from being sold, however. The point is that TSD simply does not sell well (despite it's rarity)...
