Wow, Michel . . . what a great group of hats! What a pleasure to see them.
I find the first one you posted especially interesting. It looks as if the wearer squeezed the bill (visor) of the cap to make it look more rounded. Not unlike many American baseball players do with their hats today. I really like it. Thanks for posting the photos!

The first one is attributed to a KL RK, but for a surface ship not for a U-Boot.

Same cap?
Gordon how can it be the same cap? The 'mickey' isn't the same nor is the wreath. The chinstrap doesn't look to be the same. And to be really specific one wreath has a metal kocard while the other is embroidered. The photographic evidence does not support your position!

JohnJ , please take the time to actually READ what I have written. I didn't say it was the same cap, I said the wartime photo was of the cap's original owner. He survived the war and the cap in question came directly from him.
